Does The SSPX Accept That The Age Of Altar-And-Throne Alliances, Confessional States, And Legally Established Catholicism Is Over~George Weigel

This wisdom also I have seen under the sun, and it seemed to me to be very great: A little city, and few men in it: there came against it a great king, and invested it, and built bulwarks round about it, and the siege was perfect. Now there was found in it a man poor and wise, and he delivered the city by his wisdom, and no man afterward remembered that poor man. And I said that wisdom is better than strength: how then is the wisdom of the poor man slighted, and his words not heard? The words of the wise are heard in silence, more than the cry of a prince among fools. Better is wisdom, than weapons of war: and he that shall offend in one, shall lose many good things. Lady Wisdom

One of the questions that George Weigel raises in his most recent article is a sole concern of this blog (which is run by a layman) this is his question on politics & the SSPX:

---Does the SSPX accept that the age of altar-and-throne alliances, confessional states, and legally established Catholicism is over, and that the Catholic Church rejects the use of coercive state power on behalf of its truth claims?

The SSPX is a priestly society and the main concern of this priestly society is matters of faith, not politics. The matter of politics belongs to the domain of the laity. So this question should be addressed to the lay faithful. The answer to George Weigel question “Does the SSPX accept that the age of altar-and-throne alliances, confessional states, and legally established Catholicism is over, and that the Catholic Church rejects the use of coercive state power on behalf of its truth claims?” is yes, the lay faithful who attend SSPX and most traditionalists have thrown in the towel on matters of politics and have given up any hope of political restoration based on the Catholic faith. This is obvious for anyone who reads the Remnant, Catholic Family News, Tradition in Action, Fatima Crusader etc. All of the lay faithful were told last year by these lay newspapers to vote for McCain in order to save their souls and to defeat the forerunner to the antichrist-- Obama. Modern democracy is part and parcel of the traditional lay movement, there is no indication that the Latin Mass laity has the desire or the capability of restoring any Roman Catholic Monarch to the Throne. So there will be no return to the golden age of altar-and-throne alliances. This is completely ridiculous to even think that such a movement exists. The SSPX and the laity will never give up their right to vote in any democratic election. Voting for any white protestant candidate is more important to the lay faithful than attempting the restoration of all things in Christ by means of restoring the Roman Catholic Imperial Authority. The main political strategy in restoring all things in Christ by those who attend SSPX chapels is to have the following events unfold along these lines:

1. World wide economic depression and collapse
2. World War III
3. Nuclear annihilation

After the above takes place will the world see the restoration of all things in Christ according to the majority of Latin Mass attending laity. Granted the laity have to get these bizarre ideas from somewhere other than watching Mel Gibson’s Mad Max movies and that source is most likely from some traditionally minded priests. The above list of anticipated events is promoted by the Remnant newspaper, Catholic Family News, Tradition in Action, Fatima Crusader etc.. Any attempt at Catholic restoration beyond the above outline of events is not part of the Traditionalist movement. So the question that George Weigel raises is moot. The SSPX promotes the idea that one fulfills his civic duty by voting in democratic elections. Nothing that the SSPX promotes for restoration of all things in Christ takes place outside the ballot box. Restoring all things in Christ is dependent on the ballot box. The ballot box in the only desired instrument to bring this restoration about. Most if not all traditionalists will continue to vote in election after election until the above anticipated events take place. The other political problem/illness of the traditionally minded laity who attends SSPX chapels and other traditional chapels is one of extreme nationalism as witnessed with the Italian New Force or the Italian Northern League, and here in America with the nationalism of the distributist movement. These groups promote the old & tired white racist/separatist political ideas. These ideas are found in conservative circles here in America as well so extreme nationalism is not confined to just traditionalists who attend the Latin Mass. What is the appeal for a traditionalist to embrace the political philosophy of a David Duke is beyond me. But these political perverted types who attend SSPX chapels need to be removed. They are a hindrance to the restoration of all things in Christ. With the removal of Father Giulio Maria Tam from the SSPX in 2000, Fr. RafaÅ‚ Trytek removal from the SSPX in 2006 & Fr. Florian Abrahamowicz who was asked to leave earlier, this year all could be an indication that the SSPX is clearing house of those who hold extreme nationalism views. The only other groups left who still poses problems will be the French laity who embraces the perverted French nationalism of Jean-Marie Le Pen lead by sedevacantist priest Fr. Bruno Schaeffer who said in 2006 “France is not dead, and with the help of the leaders of the National Front, France will rise again to fulfill its duty as a Christian nation before God and the entire world." The other small group would be the perverted nationalists found among the traditional monarchists. These groups still pose a threat.
