1. 4.7-magnitude quake is latest in swarm of temblors to rattle Nevada area, USGS says
A 4.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Nevada on Monday afternoon is the latest in a series of dozens of quakes in the region, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. No damage or injuries were reported.
The 3.2-mile deep quake hit about 16 miles from the small town of Mina, Nevada, and less than 115 miles from South Lake Tahoe, California.
Light shaking from Monday’s earthquake could be felt in Sierra National Forest and Pine Grove, California, according to USGS. Source
2. 'What a wake up call': Bay Area residents jolted by early-morning quake
A magnitude 3.7 quake struck the San Jose area Tuesday morning and was quickly followed by a magnitude 3.6 aftershock, according to the US Geological Society.
The United States Geological Survey detected the first quake at 6:58 a.m. with an epicenter 22.4 miles southeast of San Jose. With a magnitude of 3.7 and depth of 3.11 miles, this quake could be felt near the epicenter and as far north as San Francsico. Damage to structures is unlikely. Source
