Huge explosion at Exxon refinery in Texas leaves several injured
A large explosion was reported early Thursday at an Exxon/Mobile refinery in Baytown, Texas, after what local sheriff’s deputies called “a major industrial accident.” At least four people were injured, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. One victim was in critical but stable condition and the other three were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Baytown is located just east of Houston in its greater metropolitan area. Exxon’s refinery in the city was built in 1920 and is the company’s largest oil refinery in the United States. It produces 584,000 barrels of crude oil per day, according to the company’s website.
